The monthly ritual was repeated again this morning (Monday) at the Western Wall: 'Women of the Wall' against seminary girls. But for the first time since the beginning of the struggle, 'Women of the Wall' managed to conduct prayers at the women's section. Among the seminary girls a small number of participants was recorded, with respect to previous times.
The one who described the events is the journalist Benzi Leizerovich from 'Radio Kol Chai' who accompanies the struggle and relates to Behadrey Haredim in pain: "I was this morning at prayers at the Western Wall with Women of the Wall. The Reform women were ahead and went to the women's section. Only about 400-500 seminary girls also came to the Wall. In the men's section there were only representatives of the public members of the council, Yisrael Kellerman and Yitzchak Pindrus.
"And here is the question for all the haredi Knesset members from all factions: Where are you this month? Where did you disappear? Why did you not get organized enough time to coordinate with all of the seminaries for this day, but the announcement came just 12 hours before that the next day there is a tefillah?"
Leizerovitz asks further: "Where are the different Hassidic circles? The Wall belongs to the Jewish people. I hereby call out: the sanctity of the Wall is in danger. Wake up!! What happened at the Wall today was against us, and hope it will not interfere with the decision of the Committee. Probably for the MKs up there it is not really a priority".
Another participant said: "Women of the Wall arrived early, around 7:30, and the seminary girls came afterwards. The women prayed inside the Wall plaza itself and were very prominent in their presence. They recruited many women. As far as they are concerned, this is a great success."
Although Rav Bennie Reichtler, CEO of Yeshivot Bnei Akiva passed recently a message to 20 principals of ulpanot under their management, encouraging them to join the battle - almost no religious national girls were visible at the plaza.Photo: Kobie Har-Tzvi
