Tablets selling operation at 10 shekels by the wholesale electricity appliances network lost control and ended today (Wednesday) with a buyer who lost consciousness, store manager evacuated to hospital and serious damage to the store.
The wholesale electricity appliances came out with a Tablet 7-inch sale for 10 shekels, without conditioning the purchase, and this is on the occasion of a year of the branch network in Big in Beer Sheva. The network announced that the operation will begin at 16:00 and by which it will sell hundreds of tablets at 10 shekels.
This afternoon hundreds of shoppers already began to gather at the entrance to the store and pushed each other. A customer was crushed and fainted while waiting in line. When things got out of hand the store team operated water cannons.
According to Eyal Ben-Eliezer, one of the network owners, "at 15:30 a lot of people broke into the store by breaking doors. There were hundreds and perhaps thousands of shoppers who flocked to the branch employees, entered into the checkout, stood on the goods and destroyed the store. Five security guards were brought but apparently it was not enough."
"We wanted to do well and it ended badly. People were shoving each other and we felt it was becoming really dangerous," Erez Vahab the network administrator said to Globes.
Due to the riots a ranked police officer decided to stop the operation at the very beginning due to a real danger to the public buyers, who were evacuated from the store. According to Ben-Eliezer, the network decided therefore to donate 500 tablets to Municipality of Beer Sheva which will be distributed by the Department of Social Welfare to the needy.
This is not the first time that the network is organizing a sale at a floor price. The last time the network sold DVDs for 10 shekels in Tiberias and masses flocked the store, but then, it ended peacefully.
"I hope that the next operation will look different. It will be done perhaps in a different way," said Ben-Eliezer.
Wholesale electricity network was established in 2004, is owned by Eyal Ben-Eliezer and Avi Sofer. The network runs 10 branches.
