60 year old disabled man tried to ignite himself in protest in Tel Aviv
Resident of Bnei Brak, age 60, who suffers 100% disability, tried to ignite himself in Tel Aviv to protest housing difficulties • Since Moshe Silman set himself on fire there were at least eight identical attempts

At approximately 12:00, on Menachem Begin Boulevard in Tel Aviv opposite the Kiryah, a Bnei Brak resident suffering from a disability of 100% tried to set himself alight, using a bottle containing flammable material, following apartment problems he had.
The disabled man was stopped by security guards before he could hurt himself. Tel Aviv police station opened an investigation.
Tel Aviv police reported that it is a resident of Bnei Brak, 60, who wanted help with rent.
The phenomenon of self-immolation to protest culminated difficulties reached a peak just seven months ago, when there were numerous arson attempts against financial hardship, the most prominent by Moshe Silman, who died of his wounds after he poured flammable material on himself and lit himself and was seriously wounded during a demonstration. After a week of fighting for his life, he died at Tel Hashomer Hospital.
Further arson waves occurred: a woman of 40 came to the kiosk on Salameh Street in south Tel Aviv, sprayed herself with flammable material, and tried to set herself on fire without success. The woman was not injured and was transferred for questioning.
Man of about 40 arrived at the Bank on Eilat Street in Holon with flammable material and threatened to set fire to himself, explaining that he ran into debt. Police were called to the scene took him and detained him for questioning at the region offices.
A 47 year old came to the Beersheba Municipality, doused him in flammable material and tried to set fire to him, and municipal guards prevented him from completing the dangerous operation.
Ariel resident was arrested after threatening to set fire to himself in Petach Tikva at an Orange branch, after having accumulated a debt with the company. Branch guards overpowered him while trying to pour liquid from a bottle.
A 65 year old man from Ofakim tried to ignite himself near the police station in the city. Police who saw him were able to control him and prevent him from carrying out the deed. The man was transferred for medical treatment.
A man of about 47 tried to set fire to himself in the city hall of Netivot. Security Guard of Ofek police unit accompanied by police from the Netivot station was able to take control over him before he harmed himself. He was taken to the police station in Netivot.
On Judah Maccabee Street in Ashdod, a man threatened to set fire to himself in the welfare office, due to economic hardship. Hatzalah South volunteers who arrived at the scene, found nothing. Following investigation of the clerk the medics were told: "a person came and told the clerk that if he does not receive what he requests he will ignite himself, and fled."
