The third Likud government is expected to be significantly smaller. 'Haaretz' Site reports that apparently seven offices will be closed prior to the beginning of the term of the new government.

Between offices that may be closed and will be annexed to other offices – is the Ministry of Religious Affairs, but it may be given to one of the new partners in the government.

The new government map would look like this: Department of Energy will be joined together with the Ministry of Environment. The Ministry of Education will increase its authority and include the Ministry of Culture and Science, as in the past. The Ministry of improving service to citizens, headed by Minister Eitan, will be closed.

The Prime Minister's office will absorb three existing offices: Office of Information and Diaspora, Ministry of Strategic Affairs and the Ministry of Intelligence. These offices will work as internal arms at the Prime Minister's office.

The Ministry of Communications may make an independent authority, but not as a ministerial office. The Ministry of promoting the Negev and Galilee is in danger of closing at this stage.

Yair Lapid, who heads the second largest party, demands a limited government of 18 ministers only. Estimates are that the Prime Minister will significantly reduce the new government, but not as much as demanded by Lapid.
