Holding Smartphone's are banned in all haredi yeshivas.

Recently, religious yeshivas also adopt the prohibition to hold the device while studying, although the ban is due to different reasons from those in the haredi sector.

Yeshivat Horev in Jerusalem recently decided to ban students hold smart devices within the yeshiva walls.

"A student who during recess is busy with the Smartphone, his head is not occupied with study, even if he makes it to good use," explained the head of the yeshiva, Rabbi Yitzhak Dor in a conversation with the Kipa website. "In addition, socially, we noticed that the social system of many students was injured."

As an example Rabbi Dor brings a case he recently met in the corridors of the yeshiva: "I saw two students talking with each other through the social network when one is in the hall and other student in the class that is a half a minute away.
The third reason for the prohibition imposed on the yeshiva students, is the spiritual problem associated with holding the device: "It depends on the person holding the device, but there are those more and there are those less in control. It is hard to get into a spiritual atmosphere when students find it difficult to control the content of web browsing."

Students at the yeshiva did not like the idea: "We think it is better that the yeshiva should continue as it does always, when there are problems, the solution is to talk about it and explain the ways to cope," said one of the students. The cell phone is a tool and from here to prohibition there is a long way and is exaggerated in our opinion."

Student representatives held a meeting with the head of the yeshiva, Rabbi Yitzhak Dor and brought their claims and an alternative. Management of the yeshiva held a discussion session but decided not to accept the offer of the students and will continue to enforce the new ban.
