"Who is your grandfather, Yair?" • Lazer Moses's speech of his life

It was a few minutes after the speech of MK Yair Lapid yesterday (Monday) in the plenary. Lapid spoke that the majority must learn to impose his opinion on the minority, and of course, how not, that all citizens must join the army.

"We have lost our faith in the ability of the state to act against groups that make it up," he said, and it was not hard to fathom.

"There won't be a civil war because 10 percent of the population can not threaten civil war on the other 90 percent," he declared.

Then came the Deputy Minister of Education (still) MK Menachem Eliezer Moses and carried out one of the best speeches of his life.

I heard you referring in your speech to the crisis reflecting the country's ability to act as a sovereign state with population groups. 10% against 90% as you put it, "he said, as he stared at him, trying to awaken his Jewish spark.

"You talk about the future model. I will choose to tell you from the past exemplary of our people and our heritage, mine and yours, the past which is the only future for us here in Israel. Your grandfather, David Giladi, born as David Klein in Transilvania, Austria - Hungary, to his father Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Klein, a family of 18 children, an exemplary rooted family, a family who was not ashamed of their Jewish identity and Torah, a family that referred after one of the great teachers teaching in the last generation, Rabbi Shmuel Shmelke Klein, rabbi of Sa'las described in the encyclopedia 'Shem Hagdolim' as a genius and a great saint, famous all over the land and author of the sefer 'Zror Hachaim', studied in the present and future in all yeshivas.

"The fundamental concept here in the Knesset is: 'what you see from here you do not see from there. Therefore I was surprised by your speech, which was based on a state crisis and lack of a future, resulting to your understanding, from lack of courage of the rule of the majority against the minority; you chose to ignore the inequality in the burden of the education system in Israel. You chose to emphasize and draw that the minority controls the majority, the minority exploits the majority. I choose with your permission to correct you and show you data that you didn’t see from there and I hope you see them here." Moses continued his speech, dumping data on the failures of the public school system.

"Do you really believe that a hundred thousand yeshiva students will be drafted by force?" - Wondered Moses.
"Let us find the unifying rather than divisive. Although half a million people chose to vote for you, but on the other hand, a similar number chose to vote for the ultra-Orthodox parties - Shas and Yahadut Hatorah. There is no Torah like the Torah of Eretz Yisrael and we have no right to exist in this country if it were not the Torah," he concluded his emotional speech.

When he came down from the podium, Yair Lapid went up to him, and ... embraced him.

Will Moses succeed with Lapid, as he had with Education Minister Gideon Sa'ar? Time will tell. He is, however, confident with all his heart.
