Friends • Uri Ariel will not take the Finance Committee from Gafni

MK Uri Ariel announced today (Monday) that he would not run against MK Moshe Gafni on the role of interim chairman of the Finance Committee.

MK Moshe Gafni of Yahadut Hatorah served last term as chairman of the Finance Committee. Now, according to the procedure, until the establishment of the government and the division of roles a temporary chairman of the committee is appointed.

MK Uri Ariel from Habayit Hayehudi, placed his candidacy for the role and given the number of members of parliament appointed from his party and his relationship with the other parties he expected to inherit the role.

However, today Ariel announced that that after he found out that MK Gafni is interested in continuing tenure in office; he removes his candidacy for Gafni.

Ariel explained his decision as 'values and mutual respect' prevailing between Gafni and himself.

However these days during the coalition negotiations there may also be a side signaling for Naftali Bennett, who asked Benjamin Netanyahu for Habayit Hayehudi the chairmanship of the Finance Committee.
