'Eida' warns smuggling mother: "girl to doctor or you'll bear consequences"

Badatz Eida Hareidis ruled tonight (Mon.) that the family of 'smuggling mother' must send their daughter to hospital otherwise they will "bear the consequences".

Already on Motzaei Shabbos the Bd"tz decided to support the Welfare Department of the Jerusalem Municipality, and help it forcefully take the girl of two and a half who is sick with the flu from her parents, who refuse to take her for medical treatment.

Now the Badatz met again for a discussion.

The meeting which was conducted by Hagaon R' Tuvia Weiss, was also attended by Harav Ullman, Harav Rosenberg and another dayan, as well as the grandparents of the children, two brothers of the mother, and Harav Moshe Bransdorfer.

The discussion lasted about 45 minutes, and began by collecting evidence from activists of the neighborhood, who described the situation and the actions taken to the dayanim.

During the discussions, the grandmother burst into tears, because of the suffering of her grandchildren, and due to the death of her grandson of a year and two months.

Towards the end of the hearing, appeared Harav Avraham Froelich, the activist who burst into the public consciousness when he protected the 'starving mother' who, as recalled, tried to starve her son to death.

Froelich, tried to protect the mother in this case too, and blamed the dayanim for not allowing the parents of children to say their word.

The rabbis responded that the parents' family are present, and with the parents themselves they have lost all contact.

A witness told Behadrey Haredim that Froelich came with about 12 people who demonstrated outside the Beis Din that Badatz did not allow representatives of the parents to make their statements.

After the hearing, the rabbis wrote a ruling intended for parents of the children, which states:

"Anyone who has a sick person in his home, must take him to a doctor to examine and treat him, as it is written "Verapo yerape". Those who do not do so will bear the results."

One child has already died

The story was set in motion on Thursday afternoon last week, when the family member of one year and two months lost consciousness and died.

Police investigators who did not suspect a thing, asked parents to sign release forms for the infant's burial, but the parents refused to come. After neighborhood councilors intervened, parents met with police investigators in a private apartment outside of the neighborhood, where the case ended.

The next day, residents contacted the welfare department of the Jerusalem Municipality, and reported that the child who died was sick with the flu and not taken care of, and added that the family has a girl of about two and a half who is sick too. Parents who belong to the "shawl cult", refused to give her medical care, and they feared for her life.

The Welfare Department of the Jerusalem Municipality turned to the Court which approved taking the girl from her parents' custody and turned to the city police to help it execute the court order.

The police approached the neighborhood functionaries, to avoid conflict when executing the order. The Eida Haredis Rabbis unanimously agreed that the children must be taken from their parents.

As reported here for the first time, last Saturday night at around 1:00am, large police forces led by commander of the Heart of the Capital station, Deputy Ronen Arieli, and social workers, raided the girl's family home, but the apartment was empty.

The next day, on Sunday morning, residents of Meah Shearim woke up to the sound of speakers which called "By the instruction of the Av Beis Din of the Eida Haredis, Harav Tuvia Weiss shlita, anyone who knows where the Lederman family is, must update the neighborhood activists."

However, until now, it is still unknown to functionaries and rabbis of the neighborhood, where the hiding place of the family and their sick child is.
