The percentage of children suffering of under-weight in the haredi population is the highest in the country - according to a study conducted by the Ministry of Health and will be shown today at the Be'er Sheva conference for Child Welfare.

With the Haredi population, the Bedouin population also suffers from a high rate of underweight children. CEO Council for the Child said to Israel Today, that these data indicate nutritional deficiencies that exist in these groups.

Haredim and the Bedouins are the populations in which there is a high rate of children living below the poverty line.

In general the data show an opposite problem: a quarter of Israeli children suffer of overweight and obesity. Tests conducted among 571 thousand children revealed that more than 27% suffer from obesity at different levels.

Council CEO also said: "we must expand the scope of the tests especially in weak sectors, who absurdly also take less tests and suffer more problems of growth."
