Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu: "It is difficult for us to connect to those who called us Gentiles"

Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu was interviewed this morning at Kol Berama, after he heard a recording of his father, Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu zt"l, he was asked about the connection between Bennett and Lapid.

"You are touching the most sensitive nerve among the people of Israel, it is not new that during the last few days we had many conversations with other rabbis and with Bennett, it is clear to everyone including everyone that we are not touching the Torah learners. I heard the same things from Naphtali himself that the soul of our nation is the Torah scholars."

• So what happened to Bennett who connected to the man who declared he agrees to only 400 Torah scholars?

"The question is not about Bennett, no one raises himself to such numbers, there are no numbers at all, the speech is only an outline, on the one hand we are sustaining the Torah world, I and my children and my students have learned in yeshivas, the color of the yarmulke is not relevant, the Torah is our soul. There is no need to judge things by titles in the newspaper. Their exam will be in actions."
