Claim lasted 11 years - more than a week ago, came to an end, the decision given by the National Labor Court, which rejected the appeal of the Alonyal company, franchise of McDonald's in Israel, convicted of hiring a Jewish boy on Shabbos against the law.

Indictment and conviction against the company – hiring a 17 year old in 2002.

Alonyal argued that enforcement in this case was selective, since the law is not enforced in other sectors. Judge Ronit Rosenfeld rejected the claim, saying that enforcement stems from considerations of budget and priorities, rather than for reasons of discrimination.

The judge also noted that the state presented 53 indictments for similar offenses in 1997-2002.

The judge accepted the appeal of the fine imposed on the company, after it was determined that the court exceeded the maximum fine when it imposed a fine of 30,000 NIS, and given that the fine was placed on the maximum amount prescribed by law – 19,300 shekels.

The company also was required to sign a liability in the amount 52,000 shekels which will be paid if the offense occurs again.
