Following the women: 50 orthodox men will join the nursing staff in hospitals across the country.

The program, an initiative of the Ministry of Health, was a result of a lack of medical nurses. Those who pass the initial tests will be trained in a special course delivered on campus in Bnei Brak, which will be a branch of the Academic College of Tel Aviv - Jaffa.

Orthodox nurses are already a widespread phenomenon, and many of them are found in positions in Laniado Hospital, Shaare Zedek and Maaynei Hayeshua.

The men's team joining the nurses came at the right time. Dr. Shosh Riva, head of the nursing administration office, told the newspaper "Israel Today:" There is a demand on the part of patients to be treated by a man, and at the same time the ultra-Orthodox community gave their consent to train men for the job."

Students will begin prior to their regular studies a predatory where they will complete their knowledge of mathematics and English. Then, they will start training and will be required to undergo it fully, "without any discount," according to organizers.
