A new study states that textbooks used at haredi educational institutions are similar sin their sharpness to Palestinian textbooks.
The study was conducted by American, Israeli and Arab researchers, and compared the Palestinian and Israeli materials. The result they raised was that 84 percent of Israel's references to Palestinian books were negative context, compared to 49 percent of Palestine in Israeli books. Focused examination of Orthodox books showed according to the researchers, that they are equal in style to Palestinian books.
Ma'ariv Newspaper reported today that the study caused uproar among academics and the Ministry of Education rejects it and selected to boycott it. "We have no intention to cooperate with others looking to libel the Israeli education system and cause the country harm. The comparison is a serious distortion of reality."
In contrast, the authors argue that the rejection is not professional: "All my life I have written hundreds of articles, and this is the first time I am faced with an unfortunate situation in which I have to justify the professionalism of my research and office position due to political considerations, which undermines academic freedom," said Professor Daniel Bar - Tal to Ma'ariv.
Those behind the research said that the decision is a continuation of the nationalist line let by Minister Saar.
