"Yad L'Achim" and Galei Tzahal (army radio) came to an agreement – with the intervention by the Court: over a year ago, the organization operating against missionaries in Israel, asked the military station to broadcast an advertisement, which it refused, saying that it hurts the feelings of parts of the population in Israel.
Yesterday, a long mediation process held by the supreme court came to an end and the parties agreed on an alternative version.
The text of the original broadcast was "Neshama. Do not let them work on your soul! In the Holiday events across the country, missionaries are working to influence you to convert your religion. Don't be tempted! Keep your Jewish identity with pride! Guard your soul".
After the station refused to broadcast it, Yad Le'achim petitioned the High Court and claimed that the refusal violates freedom of expression.
For over a year, various proposals rose and fell, and yesterday the parties reached an agreed wording: "They tried to influence you to change your religion? For your information, providing benefits to lure conversion is a criminal offense."
The judges' decision anchored the parties' consent in a ruling.
