The arrest of the Jerusalem couple suspected of embezzling customer funds, was extended this evening (Monday), by two days.
The couple, a well known Hasidic family living in Jerusalem was brought before Judge Hisham Abu Shehadeh in Rishon Lezion Magistrate's Court, and police demanded the extension of detention for a week.
Lawyers suspected of theft by unauthorized, money laundering, obstruction of justice, and misleading testimony.
The suspect is a lawyer, who takes care of cases taking place in rabbinical courts. It is suspected she stole along with her husband, mutual customer funds from accounts she manages.
One of the cases for which she has been interrogated is from 2009 and discussed the Ethics Committee of the Attorney Association and the Civil Service Commission, the main cause for the arrest relates to other cases on a large scale.
Brother of the main suspect, a known man, asked to consider house arrest in his home. But the judge did not respond to the request.
However, the judge wrote, he did not respond to the full application of the police because, "the woman is pregnant and a mother of five children."
Yossi Zylberberg, the lawyer representing the lawyer said in a message to B'Chadrei Charedim: "My client gave her version, answered all the questions of the investigators and gave explanations that will eventually lead to closure of the case."
Attorney Tamir Sananes representing the businessman involved in the case said in response to B'Chadrei Charedim: "the decision to release my client speaks for itself. This is an old claim refinanced with a bang and unnecessary, by the Israeli police."
