Hgray"l Steinman decided: Union conference of Agudath Yisrael and Degel

In a surprise move, Hgray"l Steinman decided this evening to unify the two councils of Torah Sages of Agudath Yisrael and Degel HaTorah – for a historic unified meeting.

The conference will probably be held, on Thursday, (after it was scheduled to start on Wednesday) at Vizhnitz hotel in Bnei Brak, and will include the Chasidic and Lithuanian Gedolei Hatorah.

In the afternoon Hgray"l was still adamant not to join the planned meeting of the Council of Torah Sages of Agudath Yisrael, due to the fact that it was not clear whether all the Chasidic Gedolei Hatorah will participate.

"I do not want to participate if there is no unity," said Hgray"l to his family.

Tonight, after Chasidic Gedolei Hatorah approved their participation, it was decided to add to the conference the Council of Torah Sages of Degel HaTorah - and the conference will be held under the theme of unity.

At the head of the Agudath Yisrael council will be the Gerrer Rebbe and the Vizhnitzer Rebbe, while Hgray"l Steinman heads the council presidency of Degel HaTorah. Amongst participants from Agudath Yisrael will be the Rebbes of Ger, Belze, Vizhnitz , Erloy, Sanz, Seret Vizhnitz, Slonim, Boyan, Alexander, Modzitz Sadigora and more.

During the historic meeting the question of Yahadut Hatorah joining the government, the threshold conditions for membership and the red lines which will not be possible to pass,
