In a conversation with the new foreign minister of the United States, John Kerry, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu clarified that the new government which he heads will be committed to peace and that he wanted to move a political process which is sober and responsible.
Perhaps Netanyahu says these things even without the difficult political situation he encountered. After all, it is clear that the new Obama government will do everything to pressurize the new Netanyahu government in the political direction. However, it is hard to shake off the feeling that the purpose of the declarations is also to drive a wedge in the wheels of prior agreements of chairman of Yesh Atid, Yair Lapid, and Chairman of the Jewish Home Naftali Bennett on "Walking together to the coalition and / or opposition."
On Friday, immediately after his inauguration, Kerry called President Shimon Peres. They talked about election results in Israel, the resumption of the peace process and various issues related to the Middle East.
Kerry also later called Netanyahu and later Palestinian Authority Chairman Abu Mazen. Nabil Abu Radina, spokesman for Abu Mazen, Kerry related in his conversation that U.S. President Barack Obama is very interested in the peace process and aware of the economic problems facing the Palestinian people. According to Abu Rudeina, the new foreign minister of the United States said that he will be coming to the region for further talks with Abu Mazen, but has not yet set a date for such a visit.
Could Bennett's party be part of a coalition that will advance the political process? It's hard to believe.
