Cleared for publication: at the beginning of January the ISA revealed, in cooperation with the IDF, a terrorist squad whose activists are affiliated with the Fatah movement who carried out a shooting attack on 29th Kislev (5th night ofChanukah), with no casualties, at the entrance to the town of Halamish / Neve Zuf in Benjamin.
In the attack some 30 bullets were fired from a traveling vehicle at an Israeli citizen, who was standing near the entrance gate of the settlement.
A few days after the attack were the terrorists arrested, residents of Beit Rima and Ramallah area: Firas Mohammed Zahirl Asnaf, 31, former prisoner of Tanzim activity background, who initiated, planned and carried out the attack, and Aziz Aal Shafiq Arhimi, 22, who joined Asnaf on the attack in order to photograph it.
General Security Service Interrogation revealed that during Pillar of Defense Asnaf offered Arhimi to carry out a shooting attack at Israeli vehicles in the region, the role of Arhimi was filming the attack, while Asnaf hires a car and performs the actual shooting. Arhimi agreed, but the attack was postponed in light of the cease-fire.
On the way to the attack, Asnaf picked up Arhimi in a Hyundai car, rented from car rental in Ramallah, and they went toward Halamish, whilst Asnaf was holding Carl Gustav weapons in his possession.
They arrived in the Halamish square, whilst Arhimi is hiding in the back seat. Asnaf carried out the shooting and the two returned to their village. The family of Asnaf helped, after the attack, in hiding weapons, and collected the shells left in the car.
On Monday 2nd Shevat an indictment was filed against Ibrahim Asnaf, brother of Firas, at the military court in Judea who attributes his offenses of possession of weapons (weapons that was used for the attack), and the offense of complicity after the act (for he helped in hiding the weapon, he used for the attack).
A week later, on 10th Shevat, further indictments were filed at the Judea Military Court against Firas Asnaf and Aziz Arhima which attributes to them the offense of manslaughter.
