The Rebbe promised diamonds? Chabad argue that not.
The 'Shefa Yamim' company displays the promise of the Lubavitcher Rebbe ztk"l - and in Chabad there are those who are outraged by this: The company, founded by a Chabad Chassid, Avraham Taub, is engaged in excavations and searching for diamonds in the area near the Kishon River. The society was founded on the basis of statements made by the Lubavitcher Rebbe zt"l to former mayor of Haifa Aryeh Gorel.
The conversation is often cited by company officials, who present their activities based on the Rebbe's promise. However the site 'The Marker' reports this morning that there are those in Chabad who rail against the misinterpretation of the Rebbe's words and believe there was no promise in them at all. "They interpret the words as if the Rebbe said, 'dig there are diamonds here - but that was not said. Anyone who watches the full conversation understands that at once," they said to the site.
They further said: "The Rebbe spoke there on another matter. He was not talking about diamonds that are deep, but on a different meaning – a spiritual meaning. It's an imagery that appears in many letters written by him in the past. Someone gave it an interpretation of diamonds, but one must remember that the Rebbe did not say it unequivocally," they explained, adding: "The interpretation directs people in their path. To a certain extent, this is deception. "
"Shefa Yamim" said in response to The Marker: "These are frivolous and baseless claims. No wonder they are spoken by unnamed sources. The words of the Lubavitcher Rebbe were said and recorded by video and constituted a vision for the establishment of Shefa Yamim. Since its inception the company operates realizing the vision and proved its findings to date in accordance with the accepted geological and scientific instruments, which won approval by the world's largest diamond company De Beers, as part of five missions of geologists on its behalf in the company's exploration areas. Shefa Yamim will continue to fulfill the vision of the Lubavitcher Rebbe."
