A Rechovot resident imposed terror in recent weeks on the ultra-Orthodox families living in the building where he lives. They said he threatened them for no reason, damaged private property, walked around with a knife and declared: "I will kill you."
The building, located on Gush Etzion Street in the Eastern neighborhood in the city, is inhabited by six families; most of them belong to the Hasidic community in the city. The man, a resident of the building, began to threaten his neighbors a few weeks ago that he intends "kill them."
Initially they did not attach great importance to the neighbor's words. Only later, when a few days have passed, they realized they were in distress: the neighbor continued to impose fear on them and their families. He walked up and down the stairs with a knife and on one occasion even stuck it on his door. In another case he tore apart a stroller belonging to one of the neighbors using his knife, and the day before even ripped the mezuzah at the entrance to the building.
According to witnesses, he would chase the children on their way to school, and yesterday also threw food around the building.
Tenants filed complaints and said they fear for their lives and their children. Police initially did not respond.
Pinchas Houminer, a City Council member, said in a conversation with B'Chadrei Charedim, that he spoke with the police and they ensured that they will deal with it as soon as possible. "I and the residents, some of whom did not sleep last night in their homes, fear disaster. I am hopeful that they will treat the case as soon as possible."
Shfela Region Police spokesperson said in response to B'Chadrei Charedim that they received a complaint, and the case is under investigation.
Some time later - the man was arrested and interrogated.
