Rabbi of Kfar Chabad, "long wigs are not a head covering"

Chabad Hasidic rabbi joins the fight against long wigs: a letter sent over the weekend by Rabbi Mordechai Shmuel Ashkenazi Rabbi of Kfar Chabad, he explains that the long wigs are not included with the permission of the head cover by a wig. "Scattered long wigs and especially when they are made of natural hair designed to resemble a woman's hair, does not have permit of a head covering by a wig" he wrote.

Things stand out against the clear support of Chabad throughout the years with a head covering specifically by a wig. The Lubavitcher Rebbe was a supporter of wigs, claiming that only that way is the head covered completely.

While the rabbis were strongly against the wigs, the Rebbe proved that halachically a wig is considered a head covering, and in reality is the only covering able to withstand the basic requirement of a complete coverage of all hair on the head.

The letter was sent by Hgrm"s Ashkenazi to the Beit Rivka management, National College of Bnos Chabad, which demanded that the married students be allowed to wear only wigs that come up to your shoulders and be drawn up and not scattered.
