Toronto's commercial center, where many Jewish shops are concentrated, was burned.

Members of the Jewish community declared an emergency campaign to help financially shop owners who are left with nothing.

The fire broke out on Sunday at the bakery, Heimisha bagel, the fire spread to the basement where flammable materials are stored and the fire turned into a giant flare that burned for ten hours and destroyed the commercial center.

Volunteers of Hatzalah - Toronto, who arrived at the scene, evacuated the occupants from the area and despite the great fire, no casualties were reported. Fire crews who arrived at the scene were able to control the fire only after ten hours.

After the fire was put out the dimensions if the damage became clear: The bakery was completely destroyed after the first floor collapsed into the basement, and two additional floors were completely burned.

The bakery is not kosher lemehadrin but a kosher food shop and a fish shop belonging to the Orthodox community, werealso damaged. The heavy damage caused difficulties in procuring kosher food in the community.

Circumstances of the fire are unknown so far, and police are investigating.
