Rosh Yeshiva to high school students: "Torah scholars carry the burden"

While the media deals with the demand for equal burden, 60 yeshiva high school students in in Petah Tikva spent last Shabbos in Bnei Brak, headed by Rabbi Shai Piron, no. 2 on the Yesh Atid list. During Shabbos the students visited the Chassidic courts and participated in the tishim and ate Shabbos meals with Haredi families.


The students come to Bnei Brak as part of a program designed to get to know the society. During the four years of study at the yeshiva, the boys meet every year with different sectors in Israeli society - religious and secular.

The boys, most of them twelfth grade students standing before a yeshiva arrangement (Hesder) or enlist in the IDF, prayed on Friday night at Modzitz, and after the meal went to the tishim in Sadigur and Vizhnitz. On Shabbos morning the boys came to the Ponovicz yeshiva for davening, and soon after were received for a talk with the Rosh Yeshiva, Hgry"g Edelstein.


One of the issues that took a central part in a conversation with the Rosh Yeshiva was the equal burden.

"The Torah scholars public share the burden equally," explained Hgry"g. "They give up the pleasures of life and sacrifice themselves to studying Torah." Immediately after the talk they went out to eat with Haredi families in the city.

Rabbi Chagai Hadas, one of the Roshei Yeshiva of the yeshiva high school, summed up the stay Bnei Brak in a conversation with B'Chadrei Charedim: "The boys left with a good feeling. The goal was achieved, after that, especially in recent times - the period of the elections - they were fed by the media talking about the Haredim not necessarily in a positive light."
