Shas and Amsalem – Last minute fights: Since this morning rumors circulated that Chaim Amsalem, Am Shalem party chairman, withdrew his candidacy. A message was spread on the Internet stating: "I Chaim Amsalem hereby declare that according to extensive testing we did not pass the threshold. I call upon all my supporters: Thank you. Despite the pain, vote for Shas. I have no heart to hear Maran cry "and in may we merit welcoming Mashiach".
A little later, Am Shalem announced a strong denial. On their Facebook page it says: "Shas is trying to make a last attempt to avoid defeat and as a desperate attempt to stop the democratic choice they distribute on the network that Rabbi Chaim Amsalem of the Am Shalem party wothdrew his candidacy! Dear friends spread and share, do not let them win! Am Shalem already appears at this hour to be the surprise of the elections. Do not let corruption continue for another 30 years! Vote with your true heart and courage, and bring your family too."
Spreading a false announcement in someone else's name is a criminal offense and can result in imprisonment. Not only the one who wrote the message, but anyone who continues to spread it, is expected heavy penalties as the written law.
