Many robberies occurred recently in Talmud Torah schools, yeshivas and Batei Midrash in the town of Lakewood. In one robbery case, the offenders disconnected security cameras, and managed to steal appliances and computers at the cost of thousands of dollars.
Consequently, and due to the recent shooting incident in Connecticut, where tens of children were slaughtered by a deranged, the Mesivta Yeshiva Beis Pinchas, Lakewood, decided to install advanced security system that will allow entry only to ID card holders.
Starting this week, the yeshiva doors will be locked all day, and only an identified magnetic ID card holder will be able to enter. Of course, the yeshiva provided a magnetic card to the yeshiva staff, students and their parents. Thus, each person will have to present to the security viewfinder a display with the ID card.
The yeshiva also installed several security cameras, which photograph all around the yeshiva area.
Guests or visitors coming to the yeshiva, will have to come to the front door and ring the bell, and only after careful identification by the camera - could enter the yeshiva.
Rabbi Shraga Pinter, director of the yeshiva, explained the move: "Installation of upgraded security system is essential for the security of children, especially after the murder at the school in Connecticut."
