Shabbos events summary


• A three year old child was critically injured after he apparently run over - by a private car in Majd al - Kerum. Magen David Adom paramedics took him to the hospital in Nahariya while performing CPR. Nahariya hospital said that after lengthy resuscitation he was pronounced dead in the trauma unit. Initial police investigation revealed that the child had crawled out of the courtyard and was hit by a car. The investigation is continuing by the traffic examiners.


• On Friday night in Haifa an accident occurred between a motorcycle rider and a car on Sderot Ben Gurion corner of Hamaginim, the MDA team evacuated the 18 year old driver in serious condition with head trauma to Rambam Hospital in the city. One victim was treated in mild condition. Circumstances of the accident are investigated, and police detained the driver of the private car.

• At the start of Shabbos at 16:53 a person was found shot near the Old Akko Square. MDA staff provided medical care to a man about 40 in serious condition while he was unconscious and on a respirator, and took him to the hospital in Nahariya, where he was pronounced dead. Initial investigation revealed that he was shot by unknown assailants. Circumstances and background to the event are unknown. Following the suspected murder the investigation was transferred to the Beach County unit.


• On Friday night in Tel Aviv a 24 year old was arrested on suspicion of hitting cars on Melchett Street in the city, and apparently smashed 37 side mirrors of parked cars. The suspect admitted he was drunk when he smashed the mirrors. He will be brought after Shabbos to the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court to extend his detention.

• An 8-year-old from the Galilee settlements was brought to the emergency room in Tzefat, Ziv Medical Center after falling from a height 3 meters at home. The child was treated for severe head trauma, his condition stabilized and he was transferred for further treatment at Rambam hospital in Haifa.


• On Shabbos at 9:45 am 10 year old boy was taken by private vehicle to the Nevatim intersection with head trauma, the MDA team evacuated him in moderate condition to Soroka Hospital in Be'er Sheva, the circumstances are not clear.


• At 12:12 a man slipped in his home in Moshav Tidhar, MDA team took him in fair vague recognition condition to Soroka Hospital in Beer Sheva.

• Shabbos afternoon at 12:15 a 70 year old woman collapsed in Nachal Shulamith in Ein Gedi, where was treated by medical staff, who finally determined her death.


• On Begin Street in Gan Yavne an accident occurred, a pedestrian was seriously injured and another seriously wounded by a car which swerved off the road and hit them on the sidewalk. Victims aged 40 and 50 were taken to the trauma room at Kaplan Hospital in Rehovot. Lachish Region traffic examiners examine the circumstances of the accident.


• 33 year old from the south caught driving at 204 mph, at the hearing he argued that he hurried to get home before Shabbos.

• On Friday night a fight broke out at 22:16 on Abarbanel Street in Beer Sheva near the yellow kiosk, MDA team evacuated a man in his 30's in mild condition to Soroka Hospital in the city, the circumstances are not clear.


• Palestinian activists set up an outpost in the village of Beit Iksa, on which there is subject of controversy between Israel and the villagers, due to Israel's plans to build on part of the separation barrier around Jerusalem. Palestinian outpost called Bab Al - Karama (dignity Gate). Last week the Palestinians established a stronghold Bab - Shams in e1 near Ma'ale Adumim.

• In the settlement of Geva Binyamin (Adam) a three year old was injured from a stone which hit him, the circumstances are unclear; the child was evacuated by MDA in serious condition with a head injury when he was unconscious and on a respirator to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem.


• A 33-year-old driver from the south was caught by the police traffic department driving at 204 mph on the highway 6 near Nesharim junction. At the hearing held he argued that hurried home to get before Shabbos. At the end of the hearing, it was decided to revoke his driver's license for a month and arrest him. The driver will be prosecuted in a quick procedure.

• In targeted enforcement activities conducted over the weekend by the police traffic department against drivers who endanger road users identified 70 drunk drivers, 33 disabled vehicles and 59 driving licenses were rejected.
