After weeks of quiet in Jerusalem: an unprecedented rioting and arrests during a demonstration held today (Shabbos), at the capital center.
It has been many months since a routine demonstration is held every Shabbos afternoon at the corner of Strauss and Haneviim Street.
This Shabbos was no different; about 50 protesters of Eideh Charedi came to protest against desecration of Shabbos at the 'Karta car park' and other places in the capital. They were joined by a curiosity audience.
During the demonstration, there were severe clashes and riots and police arrested two ultra-Orthodox youngsters.
According to police, one of the detainees threw himself on the road and thereby hindered the movement of vehicles on the road. Despite police officers warnings, he refused to evacuate.
A second detainee was violent to two policemen and even threw a plank at a police officer and threatened him.
