Bar Mitzvah for the Bukharin Jewish Congress: The congress is marking the 13th anniversary this year, which was established in 2000 by Lev Leviev with the aim of preserving the glorious heritage of Jews of Bukhara worldwide.


The conference, held tonight at Hangar 11, attended by President Shimon Peres, Minister Eli Yishai, Minister of Education Gideon Sa'ar, Avigdor Lieberman, MK Amnon Cohen, Mayor of Tel Aviv Ron Huldai, Lev Leviev president of the World Congress of Bukharan Jews, Israel's ambassador to Uzbekistan global \ Home community in the Diaspora, Abraham Novogrodsky (Novo) CEO of Africa Israel \ and thousands of community members from across the country and more.

At the award ceremony, four awards were awarded by the ministers and Knesset members who attended the event, for the men of the year activists for their great contribution and activities for the community: unique contribution for the community, the Bukharin's Education Minister Gideon Sa'ar, Bukharan culture and music Mifal Chaim, Elu Aliyev and the Aliyev band, in community welfare assistance, Esther Motayeb from Lod and volunteerism Irena Bar, Boris Netanalov and Meir Chai from Afula.

President Shimon Peres opened the congress and after he was dressed according to tradition in a Bukharin traditional cloak, he said: "I feel grateful and privileged to be your guest on a night like this. Bukhara is a unique country, and you Bukharin Jews who immigrated to Israel from around the world – have brought to our country intellectuals of many assets, a wonderful heritage, folklore and special tastes which have enriched the multi-colored mosaic that makes up our country."

Lev Leviev, President of the Congress, said: "The World Congress of Bukharin Jews Activity for preserving its heritage and activities of the community is a model and example to the initiative, vitality, ambition and fulfillment. Today is exactly the 13th anniversary of Bukhara Jewish Congress, I am proud to announce we have completed the renovation and preservation of the ancient cemetery on the Mount of Olives where pioneers are buried in Zion and the Bukharin community for future generations."
