Airport Police at Ben Gurion held an investigation on suspicion that the El Al Rabbi, Rabbi Yohanan Hayot, performed unworthy acts with a cleaner employed at the company, and recommended to indict him.
Two months ago, the worker complained to managers that during a work meeting with the rabbi, he performed an unworthy act against her will. Directors referred her to the Ben Gurion Airport police. Due to the worker's complaint on several occasions, and since she was found to be credible, Rabbi Hayot was questioned under caution a month and a half ago.
During the investigation the Rabbi did not deny the acts, only excused them that "he suffers from diabetes" and it can be that his illness is causing him to do these acts.
The police summoned other sources, and a few days ago transferred the case to the prosecutors to decide whether sufficient evidence has been found to bring the rabbi to trial. Before that, Rabbi Hayot will be given a hearing prosecution, during which he will try to convince that he is innocent.
Police say there is enough evidence linking the rabbi to allegations against him, and therefore recommended the filing of charges against the rabbi.
The Rabbi's lawyer, attorney Uri Keinan, said: "What we have to say will be said at the hearing before the prosecution. The Rabbi completely denies any criminal offense."
Rani Rahav, a spokesman for El Al said in response, "the company is pending the completion of the process that began six weeks ago."
