A 'flu epidemic' struck over the last month in New York: Since the beginning of December twenty thousand residents have fallen ill.

New York State Governor, Andrew Cuomo, declared a health emergency because of the outbreak of the epidemic, and called for the public to get vaccinated and enact sterility.

Dr. Shank, a longtime pediatrician in Lakewood, New Jersey reveals that a year ago, a hundred children became ill with flu, but this year the plague broke out earlier than usual, and to date more than a thousand patients with the flu have been found in Lakewood only.

Dr. Shank adds that it is still the middle of winter, and the numbers are rising every week. According to him, non-vaccinated children come to school and kindergartens carrying the disease, even before symptoms show, and are contagious to other children, and so the disease spreads.

Organizations of Bikur Cholim and local pediatricians recommend that parents not send their children to schools, kindergartens and yeshivas when they are sick, even if they have no temperature.
