The 200-year-old organization celebrated: the budget - 18 million

The organization which was founded over 200 years ago in Czarist Russia - celebrated in Manhattan: The charity organization, "Kollel Chabad", founded by the founder of the Chassidut, Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi the Baal Tanya and the Shulchan Aruch, celebrated the annual dinner at the Hilton Hotel in New York.


The event was attended by over a thousand people, the notables of the Jewish world in the United States. New York City Mayor, Mr. Carey Bocker, also attended the event and delivered a speech.

The Kollel Chabad organization has established in the תקמ"ח by Rabbi Schneur Zalman as an assistance fund to the Jews of the Holy Land. Since then the fund operates continuously and helps families in need of support. Even today, most of the activities of the fund is in Israel, and operates a food distribution center, day care network, subsidized stores – Kollel Store, daily help for the elderly, care for orphans and widows and more.

The organization's director, Rabbi Shalom Dochman, revealed the annual budget - $18 million. During the dinar, Dochman told audience that the organization was chosen by the state to implement the "Food Security Program," a unique program designed to eradicate poverty in Israel.


The organization owns the Chabad plot on the Mount of Olives and runs the global Tehillim membership near the tomb of King David.
