Tear gas wassprayed tonight (Monday), in the hall where Rabbi Amnon Yitzhak was about to talk.
Tonight, the leader of 'Power to Influence', Rabbi Amnon Yitzhak, arrived at the "Shemesh Haola" hall on Hanasi Street in Beit Shemesh, to deliver a lecture for the elections to be held next week.
About 300 people were waiting in the hall for a lecture, when suddenly tear gas was sprayed in the hall by an anonymous.
There was a great commotion, a violent scuffle broke out, some participants ran outside for fresh air, and the others were evacuated by the police. According to reports by rescue teams on the scene, there were no injuries.
Fans of Rabbi Amnon, who came to listen to the lecture, clashed with yeshiva students who had assembled there. All this went on while the Rav himself remained in one of the rooms in the hall.
The lecture was cancelled by police order, and only after things calmed down, Harav Amnon came out with heavy police escort to his car, while his fans accompany him with singing "Hevenu Shalom Aleichem".
The Jerusalem police informed that "During a gathering of activists towards a lecture by Harav Amnon Yitzchak, tear gas or pepper gas was sprayed in the hall, even before the Rav entered the hall. There are no casualties. The audience went out of the hall, and the Rav cancelled his talk. Police forces are on the scene. The circumstances are being investigated."
