Palestinian outpost in E1 evicted

The Palestinian outpost, established in E1, was evicted tonight by security forces and evacuees were transported by bus to the Kaldnia crossing. The entire eviction area was blocked to the entry of journalists.


Outpost Av shal Shams (Gate of the Sun) was established yesterday by Palestinians in E1, where the state decided to build housing units, following Palestinian UN recognition as a state observer.

Outpost evacuation was delayed after an appeal to the High Court claiming that the outpost was built on private lands which are not state lands. In the country's response filed yesterday it was claimed that most of the tents are also located on state land, and that delayed evacuation will breach public order. A few of the tents which are on private land was not cleared tonight until their legal status is clarified.


E1 area is considered a strategic area and according to the Palestinians its return to the Jews damages their territorial sequence.
