The story of Moshe Aryeh Friedman's sons, who are studying with Belz Hasidic girls, continues to create a stir among the haredi community in Antwerp, Belgium.
A week ago Yaakov and Yosef Friedman, the sons of Moshe Aryeh Friedman, were placed in classrooms in the Bnos Yerushalayim school, Antwerp. Some parents of students in the classrooms in which the students were assigned, refuse to send their daughters to school.
The parents have kept silent up to date on the local media, but agreed to explain that this is a "natural fear".
Another development in recent days Malka Friedman, mother of Moshe Aryeh who lives in the U.S., sent by attorney Henry Rosenberg from Belgium, a request to the authorities to remove her grandchildren from the custody of her son, or alternatively removing the children from school. For, the existing reality causes them harm.
Moshe Aryeh Friedman responded to the request in an interview he gave last Friday to a newspaper in Belgium: "My mother is extreme. Since when does she know what happens to me or my children and my family? After all, we are not in touch for the last 10 years."
More:
• "There are advantages in having my sons study together with girls" • Friedman talks
• Provocation worked: boys were seated between two girls
The mother's request was transferred to the police and state welfare officials.
There is no wonder grandmother worried, because the 8-year-old boy, recently refused to go to school. When his parents asked him why he said in tears: "I have no friends there." The 11-year old boy studying in another classroom at the school, said something similar too.
Another story was told by one of the parents in school. He said last weekend there was a classroom activity in which the students were asked what is the thing that scares them? Most students answered the appropriate answers for girls their age, but Friedman's son replied: "I fear that if I don't behave properly, they'll throw me out the window."
The school continues to pin hopes on an appeal against the decision to place Friedman's children.
Last week another lawyer was hired to represent the school, after factors in the community and legal experts believed the first lawyer did not make the most of the issue.
