Students and graduates of Yeshivat Ateret Yisrael, Jerusalem, will gather this upcoming Motzei Shabbos for a Chanukat Habayit of the new Beit Medrash, and the dedication of an Old Ark placed in the yeshiva hall meeting in Bayit Vegan.
The ark was built 150 years ago, and served as the ark of a Great Synagogue in one of the towns in Galicia before the First World War. The artist who built it fled to New Jersey and took it with him.
The gathering will be held in conjunction with the yahrzeit of the mashgiach, Rabbi Meir Chadash zt"l, who was the spiritual and moral pillar of the yeshiva. Hgray"l Steinman will also probably participate in the gathering – depending on the weather.
Yesterday (Wednesday) Rabbi Yehuda Ades, Rosh Yeshiva of Kol Yaakov in Bayit Vegan arrived surprisingly at the yeshiva, and asked to see the ark – and then blessed loudly using the name of Hashem: 'baruch meziv gevul almana' (blessing recited as displayed in the Gemara in Brachot.
Hgr"y Ades also expressed excitement that when Rosh Yeshiva Hgrb"m Ezrachi gets to see a new Beit Midrash after decades of anticipation – this is the blessing that should be recited.
Hgry"sh Elyashiv zt"l said the blessing in the Churva synagogue, Jerusalem, after the renovation and reconstruction, three years ago.
