Noam, a yeshiva student from Bnei Brak, was a key witness to the ninth assassination attempt of Nissim Alperon – which took place today around 13:00 in central Tel Aviv.
A few hours after being released from the hospital, where he was treated and underwent routine tests, he says in an interview with B'Chadrei Charedim about what he had seen from bus-line 51 traveling from Tel Aviv to Bnei Brak.
"I left the yeshiva, toward my home," he says. "I got on the bus-line 51, traveling towards Bnei Brak. I sat on one of the isolated seats which are adjacent to the window of the bus and when we arrived at the intersection of Menachem Begin and King Saul we stopped along with the rest of the vehicles at a traffic light. Near us was car a gray Mazda car... I suddenly noticed a motorcycle rider attaching a black handbag to the front door.
"At the same time, I noticed the car owner leave the car. I hurried to reassure myself that something was not wrong in that the motorcyclist must have hit the car and the two plan to exchange details. However, the explosion happened and as a result the window of the bus, where I sat next to, exploded into pieces.
"Everyone was shouting attack, attack!" He recalls, "Due to the repulsion I rolled on the floor of the bus. At the first few seconds you see nothing, slowly, after a few seconds your view returns to you, you hear ringing in your ears and I immediately touched myself to see that I am alright."
At the same time, Noam tried to understand what had happened around him. He turned to other passengers to offer them help, despite the fact that he himself was slightly injured and later taken to the Ichilov hospital.
"Everything happened so quickly, you don’t even manage to process what the eyes see and the event has already ended. Unlike other passengers, I saw everything that happened from the beginning to end and when I put one and one together, I realized that this was not a terrorist attack, but a criminal offense."
While the passengers were in total shock, Noam noticed that the bus continues to drive slowly. "I went to the front and I noticed that the driver was not there, I stopped the bus and called the police and gave them the information that I had, while concurrently I called my mother to let her know everything was okay."
As soon as police arrived on the scene, a helicopter was also raised into the air and the motorcycle riders were questioned. Two were arrested.
