Roshei Yeshiva request to completely eliminate military evaluations

Despite the arrangement with the military about invasive procedures and tests done by civil doctors, Roshei Yeshiva, mostly chasidic, wish to cancel them altogether.


Recalling, in the last few days, orders were given to recruitment offices across the country, that the invasive tests will be performed by a civil surgeon and not at the recruitment office.


But Rabbi Chaim Aaron Yousfi, working in the field, believes that there is no significance to the invasive test carried out.

"A well known Rosh Yeshiva was sharply critical of all the cacophony around the subject and said: 'I do not want boys to do such test, also not in the Kupat Cholim. Do I need that a student will go to the Kupat Cholim and think all the way about the undesired tests which have no purpose? What and why? I do not want it at all."

"One of the Roshei Yeshiva," he says, "suggested to the military authorities, to bring a doctor on account of the yeshiva and in its framework, but the army refused it. They do not want to deal with the Rosh Yeshiva, and are not willing to hold dialogues that are not collective, so the concentration issue is only with the MK's in the absence of any other body which can handle it."

"The tests are only a tiny part of the problem here," he adds, "the Vizhnitz Rebbe, who in his home I visited several times, and who recently ordered to return and report to the recruitment offices, after clarification regarding testing procedures, knows that the problem does not only lye here. We explained that to the Rebbe and he has high hopes that the issue will be settled after the election, once and for all.
