Additional sentence in the 'Deal' case: A year and a day in prison

A year and a last day in prison for one of the defendants in the 'Deal' case, the largest money laundering case in the history of the New Jersey – received an additional sentence last weekend.

Federal Court in Trenton, New Jersey sent David Goldhirsch, to a year and a day in prison.

Goldhirsch, a resident of Brooklyn, was one of the 46 people arrested in 2009 as part of an authorities operation against those involved in money laundering.

Goldhirsch admitted that he received from Shlomo Dwek- who incriminated many members of the community - checks which he deposited for a deduction of ten percent.

Goldhirsch's sentence joins two who were recently convicted: Lobel Schwartz and Mordechai Schiff.

Schiff admitted last summer and was sentenced to 4 years in prison and Schwartz was sentenced last week to a year in prison.

So far, three quarters of all those involved in the case pleaded guilty or were alternatively convicted.

Only two were acquitted in court and four counts of others involved were eliminated after discussions on the matter in the courts.
