11 days have passed since the attack on Nati Grossman, editor of Hapeles, at the entrance to his house in Bayit Vegan in Jerusalem, and the main suspect for assault is still in custody, today (Tuesday) was remanded for another day.
Following the Grossman attack on Thursday night at 1:00, Jerusalem police opened an investigation, and after midnight on Motzei Shabbos arrested two suspects, a third suspect was arrested the next day.
The main suspect's arrest was extended three times so far, and today was remanded for another day. Two other suspects were released recently.
A police representative said that there has been no change in the material of the investigation, but has not yet been completed, in part because the suspect maintains the right to remain silent. He asked the court to extend his detention for four more days, due to the fear he will flee the country.
The suspect's attorney said that on concerning the cause of the remand for the obstruction of justice, "There are limits to how much we allow police to request remand for the action they did not commit."
Judge Tamar Bar Asher-Zaban partially accepted the request of the police, and extended the detention of the suspect by one day only.
Moreover, the judge noted that with the release, it seems apparent that there will be no place to settle for supervised house arrest of the suspect's family, and will need to be supervised by a factor that does not belong to his family.
