13 haredi organizations competing in the Harish construction auctions were summoned to a hearing in their case at the Auction Committee of the Israel Lands Administration.
The hearing will be held tomorrow (Wednesday) with attorney Zvi Agmon representing the orthodox organizations. Apparently, this is a hearing before the notice of rejection of proposals submitted by them.
The housing auctions in Harish were opened with loud and great news for the homeless orthodox public.
For several days an auctions register of the various organizations took place and proposals were submitted – and the proposals submitted by the cheapest organizations – were supposed to win the main auctions.
But a petition filed by the 'Green Harish' organization - a secular organization who went to the Harish auctions, offered high prices and will probably will not win the auction - put an end to hopes of thousands of applicants who are currently living in basements and warehouses. The petition filed by the Justice Department argued that Orthodox organizations managers coordinated between them and conducted cartel prices.
Previously the 'Green Harish' Association turned to the court to order the halt construction plans at Harish, claiming that the building plans do not take into account the city population which already lives in the city, and it violates the principle of equality.
