Jerusalem: Martyrs of Toulouse back to Kiryat Yovel neighborhood

The Toulouse kedoshim will be commemorated in Kiryat Yovel neighborhood of Jerusalem – according to a decision of the Committee of names in Jerusalem.

The Names Committee of Jerusalem municipality approved the commemoration of Harav Yonathan Sandler hy"d and his two sons, Aryeh and Gavriel hy"d, who were killed in the terrorist attack in Toulouse, France last March.

The memorial will be at the games corner in Kiryat Yovel, Jerusalem. The Sandler family managed to collect 15 thousand dollars for the corner, to be established on Zangvil street corner Torah Ve'Avodah street.

The Sandler couple had lived in the neighborhood, while Yonathan studied in a yeshiva in Har Nof.

The memorial area is located near the yeshiva of the French community and mother of the family, Eva Elul Sandler, sat Shiva there for her husband and children.

The shooting attack that killed the members of the Sandler family occurred on 19 March. At that time, Sandler went along with his two sons to the Jewish School, Otzar Hatorah in Toulouse. On their way to school the terrorist Mohammad Marrah, 23 year-old French Muslim, began to shoot towards the students.

The terrorist killed Yonathan and his sons 6-year-old Aryeh and 3 year old Gavriel. He then also shot Miriam Monsonego, 8 years old, in her head and killed her.
