Concern among Breslev Hasidim, who yearn to reach the tomb of Rabbi Nachman of Breslev zy"a: a ticket to Ukraine may rise soon and stand, even during the recession, on at least $500.
This is after the Aerosvit Company, one of the Ukrainian airlines who flew thousands of devotees to Kiev over the years, accumulated debts in three years, amounting to a billion dollars, and is on the verge of collapse. Businessman Aaron Meiberg purchased from Aerosvit the concession ticket on the Tel Aviv – Ukraine line, and now controls most of the flight line.
So while last week a ticket cost $380, with the transfer of the concession ticket prices have surged to $460. "What will happen during the summer is not yet possible to predict, but surely prices will jump out of proportion. A natural consequence of monopoly," say a source at Breslev.
Sources among Breslev Hasidim have already expressed concern about significantly rising flight prices. They claim that Elal has wished for several years to raise airfares and from the moment the shares of central flights passes to the ownership of one company, which controls the majority of the lines of Tel Aviv - Ukraine, it will become a cartel and raise the prices, and therefore Elal will not sit by idly and act in a similar manner."
Among Breslev Hasidim are organizing now to torpedo in advance the anticipated price rise in their opinion. "These days we are organizing a pressure group aimed to fix the price," they promise.
"We will pay only $390 and not a dollar more," they say. "Maybe it will involve a war, it will take two, three months ... but if the public exercise restraint and will not give in, and we can keep prices reasonable and loyal. Businessmen are confident that the chassidim will be willing to pay $500, if only to reach their destination in Uman, and that we intend to prevent, even at total restraint and avoiding reaching Kiev. Only if the aircraft will take off empty, we will succeed in preventing the trend ", they argue passionately.
Breslev activists also say that they offer to the public, to purchase already tickets to Kiev via a third country, for Rosh Hashanah, even if the price will be $550, because, they claim, there will be a significant raise in flight prices towards Rosh Hashana.
B'Chadrei Charedim could not get the response of firms 'Kaspi Tours' and 'Air Ukraine', and when it is received - will be published.
