Melamdim of the Square Talmud Torah got stuck in the elevator

Panic reined yesterday after noon at the Square Talmud Torah in the Square neighborhood in Monsey, New York: A group at the Talmud Torah finished teaching - got stuck in the elevator on the fourth floor when the elevator suddenly stopped working and stopped in between floors.

After a team of melamdim made desperate attempts to rescue the Talmud Torah melamdim, the fire brigade were called, who managed to rescue a short time later the melamdim who were stuck in the elevator.

One of the parents of the students at the school said that it was an old elevator – that has already gotten stuck several times in the past.

This time the elevator broke down due to a power failure caused probably due to extreme weather conditions which struck yesterday the Monsey area.

In Monsey an old tree fell and broke. As a result, a major power cable broke, and 5,000 homes, including seminaries and yeshivas, were left without electricity.

The Vizhnitz - Monsey Girls School, who at the time were at a charity event for institutions, remained for several hours without electricity.
