There is almost no Rav in the city of London who has not yet expressed his opinion in a public statement or official letter regarding the "Halperin affair", in which the Divrei Chaim community and Reb Chaim Halperin are in the midst of - rumors circulating against him concerning immoral behavior.
To the spoken list this weekend joined Rabbi Gershon Hager, the head of the Hagers community in Golders Green. Rabbi Hager published a letter in his shul - where there are more than a hundred members, in which he takes a strong stance against the Divrei Chaim community and its leader.
"It’s a shame we have cult cheats who could attack the affairs of the community, which shields the man who rabbis proclaimed to watch out from, and thus weaken the prohibition of immorality," the letter stated.
Meanwhile, associates of Reb Chaim Halperin denied in a conversation with B'Chadrei Charedim, the reports that last Shabbos at the shul a limited amount of people came to daven - because many have abandoned the community.
"The number of members this Shabbos, despite what is happening in the community - was great. Those who were absent were recently on vacation out of town," they explained.
