A shame in Mea Shearim neighborhood in Jerusalem: a group of soldiers, some wearing kippas, entered the interior of the hareidi neighborhood, and was chased away from there in disgrace after residents threw their garbage on them and shouted at them: "Nazis."
In the afternoon, a group of young soldiers in uniform with weapons entered the neighborhood. The group, which was accompanied by two chassidim were on their way to the home of the Rebbe of Shomrei Emunah, who lives in the "Kasbah" of Meah Shearim.
Some residents testified later that before the soldiers came in they warned them not to enter the neighborhood while wearing uniforms and carrying arms, as this step will lead to provocation of the residents.
And so it actually happened: on their way to the Rebbe, some residents shouted at the group: "Nazis, get out of here" - and threw garbage towards them.
In response, the soldiers fled from the neighborhood.
"This is a sensitive period when Haredim are opposing the enlistment decree," said one resident of the neighborhood, explaining the anger of those who condemned and attacked the soldiers. "There was an argument here that they shouldn't have called them Nazis, as some of them were wearing kippas."
