"Vehemently great war against iPhone and BlackBerry"

The struggle against the unauthorized cellular telephone intensifies, and with it the modes of operation are becoming extreme: an organization called "Hatzalas Hadoros – under the direction of Gedolei U'meorei Hador", which is under the organization "Union of the Kehillos for Purity of the Camp", has decided to take off its gloves and start an all-out war against anyone who will bring an unauthorized device to shull.

In an advertisement published by a branch of the organization in Beitar Illit, its leaders complain: "Since unfortunately the plague has spread in our camp of the iPhone, Blackberry and the like, who were forbidden by all of Gedolei Yisroel, to the point that whoever holds these instruments are not ashamed to go in public with them, and moreover they take them out openly in shtiblach and other public places, without anyone saying a word, so it was decided with accordance with the advice of the rabbonim to establish an 'action committee' to go out on a great war and fight vehemently against this breach in any way."

Further on there are specifications of the early stages of the campaign. These are bold steps that could shake the very foundations of Haredi society:

"A. To place in every shull and Beis Midrash of each community those who are appointed to be responsible to go up to each and every one who brings the device into shull, and require firmly of him to leave the place. And needless to say they will not give them 'alyos' or to be a shliach tzibur even on the yahrzeit of their parents. "

"B. To inform in all the Talmud Torah of boys and educational centers of the girls in our city about parents who have it, so that their children will not learn with our children, and that includes announcing in public those institutions who will not cooperate contrary to the opinion of Gedoeli Yisroel."

The organization is looking for energetic avreichim of all ethnic groups and circles who are willing to volunteer and do it for the sake of Heaven and not for a reward.

The ad is reminiscent of the psak of HaGaon Harav Wozner that those who hold such a device are 'unsuitable for testimony and their slaughter is possul, and the words of Hag"r Chaim Kanievsky that this is "yehareg ve'al ya'avor"..

At the end of the ad, the organization's leaders express the hope that they "will manage to eradicate the phenomenon - to build a strong wall in order to preserve the sanctity of the camp and to distinguish themselves from various portzei geder (those who breach the law)".

In the coming days, the first scheduled meeting of the activists is to take place, during which they will try to find the first volunteers, who are ready to jump into this bubbling pot.
