Anti-Semitism in France: On Friday morning an anonymous person tried to ignite a synagogue in Paris, where he lit the back door of the synagogue. Rabbi Shneur Lovtzik, rabbi of the synagogue, said, "This is a real miracle. Near the door which was set on fire there was furniture, and the fire could have spread rapidly into the synagogue. We located the fire right from the beginning and with Hashem's help we were able to prevent its spread. Nothing will stop us from continuing to pray in the synagogue and the Shabbos prayers were held regularly."

In a sign of identification with the worshipers of the synagogue, on Friday evening dozens of city council members, rabbis and religious leaders of all faith arrived at the synagogue square, who expressed their protest against the violation of holy places.

Last Thursday a young Jew who was beaten and stabbed by thugs in Paris was miraculously saved. According to police, the background to the attack was an attempt by attackers to steal the man's car.

The youngster said that the attackers cursed him and made epithets against Jews. The youngster objected, and was stabbed slightly. The attackers fled when they saw vehicles approaching the scene. The youngster was rushed to hospital with minor injuries, and released before Shabbos to his home.

Police investigators took testimony, and determined that the crime was anti-Semitic.

In both cases the police could not identify the perpetrators
