In the midst of medical care - a violent confrontation between rescue organizations

Saving lives, or violence? Violent struggle worsens between rescue organizations in the city of Bnei Brak.

For a long time there is tension between the Hatzalah and Hatzalah Gush Dan organizations in the city, and from time to time the verbal confrontations deteriorate to physical violence.

Another incident took place tonight (Sunday), and volunteers of the Hatzalah organization who provided emergency medical care, were physically attacked.

"The incident took place this evening, when the Hatzalah volunteer medic M. - with many years of experience as a medic - arrived at the apartment where an 80 year old woman was not feeling well as a result of shortness of breathing," said Chaim Greydinger, a spokesman for Hatzalah.

"Whilst M. was starting treatment included blood pressure and providing oxygen, volunteers from Hatzalah Gush Dan arrived, hindered the therapeutic procedure, and punched and pushed the medic to prevent him from performing life-saving procedures, whilst shouting. The stunned paramedic continued to stabilize the condition of the patient."

Following the incident, police were called to handle the event, and after an argument, the police referred the parties to complaints at the Ramat Gan police station.

The Hatzalah management, said tonight: "There is no doubt that this is "a fool" which does not represent the vast majority of volunteers working to save lives, and we are confident that it is not receiving backing from any organization involved in saving lives, we expect that the Ministry of Health and the police will do justice to make sure such events do not repeat themselves."

Moshe Horowitz, a spokesman for Hatzalah Gush Dan, responded to B'Chadrei Charedim: "This is a provocation planned by dozens of people towards Hatzalah Gush Dan, a veteran rescue volunteer organization in Bnei Brak. Hatzalah Gush Dan volunteers will not be led into planned and initiated provocations against the organization's volunteers. It should be noted that because of the provocation there was delayed evacuation of the patient with shortness of breath to the hospital - something which is not human, which could cause a disaster."
