Shas senior to B'Chadrei Charedim: "We're not in Netanyahu's pocket"
The tension between Shas to Likud-Beitenu is not just an election spin • Shas senior confesses: "We want to go with the Likud, but not at any price – we may well go with the left"

The hugs between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Hgr"o Yosef, as revealed by the media at every event where they met over the years, changed their last statements of contempt towards the party to return to its former glory.
Statements along the lines of, "we will not deposit the important offices such as the housing offices and religion in the hands of a sectored party" – does not really do good to Shas, and last night, in his sermon, the Rabbi even referred to it and most acutely.
In a conversation with a senior Shas he did not sound very surprised. Their opinion on Netanyahu I heard already, long before dreams of elections.
On every crossroads that the Prime Minister had to decide (allowance for married students at the beginning of his term, grants and further along the Tal Law at the end of the government's term) Shas stopped breathing for fear of the future.
They never relied too heavily on the man in charge of the government, who signed on the agreements and who should have fulfilled them. He promised this one, promised that one –was only one of his ways not to maintain his signature, but there were also other methods.
It is natural that in the midst of an election campaign Netanyahu will not want to bring up before the potential voter the memories of friendship between Likud and Shas and will do anything to deny any benefit of any kind to them.
Do not be surprised if behind the scenes there is a channel aligned perfectly 'between' and 'them' along the lines of: I and my MKs and ministers will attack you, we say that 'we will not give you files and offices, there shall not be Tal Law, and may not even add you to the coalition.
"You, on your part will curse and tell the rabbi to speak against me and my party, you will do anything to transmit a conflict. This brings seats, Arthur Finkelstein will probably say."
