Nati Grossman case: At a hearing held today (Monday) at the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court, the detention was extended for the third suspect who was arrested yesterday, by two days. The second suspect, his detention was extended yesterday, will be released today. The main suspect's arrest was extended yesterday until Thursday.
At a hearing held today before Judge Anat Zinger at the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court, police demanded to extend the detention of a suspect in beating editor of the Hapeles last week, by four days.
A police representative said at the hearing that the suspect was caught with a hand written document in his hands, in which he documented his actions on the day of the attack. The police claimed that an honest man does not produce an alibi.
Attorney Rivka Schwartz said in response: "My client is not related to the attack and has a solid alibi for that. The referral to the police is the objective to harm the image of the community to which he belongs and damage rabbis whom he represents. Too bad the police are collaborating with it."
The attack on the Hapeles editor occurred on Friday morning, shortly after 1:00 am, when Nati Grossman arrived home to Bayit Vegan Street in Jerusalem. He was attacked by two unknown assailants who appeared orthodox, and was hit in the face and fingers. He was taken to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital, with slight injuries. He was released shortly before Shabbos.
Jerusalem Police opened an investigation into the circumstances of the incident. Police also came to the hospital to collect evidence.
On Motzei Shabbos, after 2:00 at night, two first suspects were arrested. One of them was stopped by a volunteer detective vehicle at the Ponovicz Yeshiva dormitory in Bnei Brak, and the second was arrested on the street in Bnei Brak. He is not a student at the Yeshiva.
